What is BigCommerce?
BigCommerce and epicFlowers are software partners. BigCommerce develops, updates, hosts the software/Shopping Cart. EpicFlowers customizes the software to the needs of the floral industry. We support the software with a unique floral community and continue to help our members stay up to date technology wise to raise each businesses revenue.
Can I have different delivery charges per zip code?
You sure can! You can also set up your delivery charge to a certain town or you can just set it to a flat fee. If you ship, you can set your Fed Ex/UPS/USPS account and print labels.
Can a customer check out as a guest and does your shopping cart have a one page checkout?
Yes and Yes. Studies have shown that if your shopping cart offers a guest check out and a quick one page check page your sales will raise.
Is there a way for me to set tax or change currencies?
Our tax system is very flexible and comprehensive if you need to charge tax. We offer complete multi-currency support, live, automatically updated exchange rates and automatic visitor currency detection
Do you have a way to offer delivery conformations?
We sure do, and it’s easy!
I make wreaths and silk arrangements, can I sell them online and ship them?
You sure can! Not only can you sell on Facebook, eBay and comparison sites we make it easy for you to use national shipping companies. Fed Ex, UPS and USPS all have their own branded, specifically designed shipping labels which make it easy for the shipping carrier to route the package to its destination electronically, simply by scanning a barcode on the shipping label. These labels are easy for us to design using the publicly available API’s through UPS Online Tools, Endicia (USPS), etc. You will be able to easily print a shipping label for an order through your label printer, place it on the box and have the shipping company do the rest.
I’d like my hand made wreaths to show up on one of those comparison sites, can your cart do that for me?
Sites like Nextag, Yahoo Shopping, PriceWatch, PriceScan, Shopzilla, Pricegrabber, Shopping.com, MySimon and Bizrate allow people to compare prices amongst different online retailers – and these sites are used by tens of millions of people every week prior to buying online. They are, of course, an excellent source of traffic for online retailers, who can list their products on these comparison shopping sites for free. They only pay when someone clicks a link for one of their products, similar to Google AdWords. These comparison shopping sites typically require the store owner to import (or auto-sync) a simple XML file containing the details of the products they want to list. Along with eBay selling integration this is a fantastic way to drive hundreds or even thousands of new shoppers to a BigCommerce merchant’s online store for around 50 cents per click.
I teach plant and flower arranging classes, can I sell tickets?
You sure can! You can sell virtual tickets to any of your events or classes easily.
I want to run a special for 10 days, how hard is that?
You can set up a product/special and set a date range to automatically start and stop, it’s that easy.
Do I have the ability to add/change the banner on my site according to the season or holiday?
Yes and it’s easy too! You have full site control including HTML/CSS.
I want to concentrate on a email marketing, can your solution help?
As we know from experience, email marketing is an affordable way to generate repeat business and build trust with customers. Mailchimp has a simple but powerful API which allows us to integrate newsletter subscribers, customers and even filtered lists of customers right back into the software, which BigCommerce merchants can then use to create, send and track their email marketing campaigns.
My web site ranks high in the search engine, if I switch over will I lose my ranking?
When switching to BigCommerce, the last thing a merchant wants to see is his hard-fought search engine rankings go down the drain. 301 redirect support will allow you to “tell” Google about your new BigCommerce store and will preserve their search engine rankings as they switch platforms (currently supported, but requires our engineers to update the 301 records manually – this will allow you to do it automatically).

I’m looking to switch. Can I import my stuff?
Yes, you can import orders, customers, products, images and variations into our software from a standard CSV (comma separate values) file. Most shopping carts support exporting in this format, and you can watch a video on our support page to see how easy it is to import into our shopping cart.
Is my data safe and secure?
Yes. The security and up-time of your store is our #1 priority. We protect your store and data with the same military-grade security and encryption that the big banks use, and we have a 99.99% average uptime track record.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes, you can use your own domain name. If you have not purchased a domain name, you can purchase one through us by choosing a plan. If you have already purchased a domain name through a third party domain registrar, then we will provide you with the settings that you will need to apply in your domain registrar in order for the domain to work on your shopping site.
What is an SSL certificate?
A Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate provides a layer of security on your site to help encrypt sensitive data, such as credit card numbers. Every epicFlowers BigCommerce store comes with a shared-SSL certificate, which means that your BigCommerce store will already be secure. You can, if you want, use your own SSL certificate.
How often is my site backed up?
Your site (including your database and all template customizations ) is backed up daily using our automated off-site backup system. We keep a standard 7 day rotating backup system and can restore your site from a backup if required.
How can I restore a backup of my site?
You’ll need to create a support ticket which you can do from our support page or by clicking HERE.
How can I check my email?
You can use an email client such as Microsoft Outlook, Gmail or Mozilla Thunderbird to check your email. When you setup your email account (the Tools -> Email Accounts menu in your store’s control panel) you’ll be provided with the access details you need to check your email.
What kind of products can I sell?
epicFlowers’s shopping cart is extremely flexible when it comes to different product types. You can sell physical products like flowers and chocolates or digital products such as images, ebooks or music. You can sell on Facebook and sell wreaths and such on eBay.
Is there a BigCommerce API?
Yes. An Application Programming Interface (API) is an interface implemented by a software program which enables it to interact with other software. The BigCommerce API provides “pull” access to all orders, products, categories and more from your store. BigCommerce also has a robust import/export capability that allows you to deliver data via a CSV or XML format.
Can I upgrade between plans?
Of course. It’s easy to upgrade between plans. Just login to your store’s control panel and click the billing menu at the top right of the screen, then choose the upgrade link. You can then change your plan as required.
Are there any contracts to sign?
No. Payments are made month-by-month and you can cancel at any time. If you cancel we will stop billing you immediately. We’re all about choice and if you don’t like epicFlowers then we wont force you to stay.
How is bandwidth/storage overage calculated?
Bandwidth over your allocated monthly allowance is charged at half a cent per megabyte. Storage space over your monthly allowance is charged at 10 cents per megabyte.
Yes, you can use a sub-domain with your BigCommerce store. Just choose a plan above and you’ll be asked how you want to setup your domain name.
Do you sell SSL certificates?
Yes, we do sell SSL certificates. You can purchase an SSL certificate from the Tools -> SSL Certificate menu in your store’s control panel.
Can I use an SSL certificate from a third party?
Yes, however because the certificate needs to be installed by one of our engineers manually we do charge a $100 installation fee.
What is a Merchant account and do I need one?
A merchant account allows you to accept credit cards from your online store and get paid directly into your banking account. If you don’t have a merchant account we can provide you with one or you can use one of our 50+ payment providers instead, including Authorized.net, PayPal, Amazon.com’s Simple Pay and Google Checkout. If you already have account for the above merchant accounts, great! We can integrate them into your shopping cart.
Does my payment gateway work with BigCommerce?
We have a page on our web site that lists all of the payment gateways we support (over 50). We list all of the software applications our shopping cart integrates with click here and scroll to the bottom right for our compatibility list.
Does my epicFlowers’ BigCommerce store include email accounts?
Yes, your epic flowers BigCommerce store includes unlimited email accounts. You can create your email accounts from the Tools -> Email Accounts menu in your store’s control panel.
Yes! We don’t believe in limiting the features in our plans. Our plans differ based on the number of products you can create as well as the storage space and bandwidth you use. You can of course upgrade plans at any time if required.
